happy birthday to me!

When you google "travel camera", one of the top listings is "Top 10 Compact Cameras for Travelers" by the National Geographic. I love Nat Geo, it brings me great joy each month when it arrives in the mail, with photos from around the world of incredible things as well as the everyday mundane... *sigh

Anyway, back on topic... when I started investigating travel cameras and saw that a Sony was recommended in the top 10, then my heart swooned... I'm a sucker for brand loyalty, and I've always had a Sony camera. It was a match made in heaven.

Except for the price tag.

However, with some savvy shopping and some heavy placement of my feet, I managed an incredible deal, and with the help of my super generous parents, I got my first interchangeable lens camera for my birthday - a Sony a6000 with two lenses.

Hazaah!

So here are some pics I took today on auto because I have no idea about camera settings whatsoever but I am so impressed with the difference in quality of the picture even on auto.

Happy birthday to me! (sounds self-absorbed but meh)

just when you thought it was over...

...you get an email from your university saying "congratulations, you have been awarded your Master of Philosophy subject to amendments required by examiners being made to the thesis"

basically, you've passed but you've got to re-submit

that is, a letter of great news, but laced with doom *dum dum dummmmm* I need to open up the dreaded files containing the 60,000-odd words which made my nightmares into reality and which you're all sick of hearing about, and work on them yet again.

Hooray!

Also, I've got twelve months to do this, so I have two options - either work my ass of for the next three weeks before I leave or take my time over the next twelve months. Hmmmm.

Either way, I can officially write my name as

Anita W. MInfecDis MPhil (App Epi)

BOOM!
