Angus Darcy can swim

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but floating your Cabbage Patch doll down a waterfall is not the smartest idea...

Cause you've got to take pics of such a hilarious occasion
On the weekend Kara and I went "Down South" and saw lots of things in between Albany and Walpole, including the Circular Pool, which is coloured brown because of the saponin in the water (see, I read the information panel).

Angus had been swimming earlier that weekend (at Green's Pool) and for whatever reason I thought it would be hilarious to see him go over the falls at Circular Pool. And it was! Until we didn't catch him at the bottom and he floated further and further away... The picture below shows me shouting "Argh, I can't swim in there, I can't see the bottom and there's probably fish that'll eat me!"

great shot of my butt Kara!
That's where the quick thinking Kara came into action - she ripped a branch off a tree with her bare hands and stirred the waters so that the current brought Angus to shore. She's so smart!

So lesson learned -  Cabbage Patch dolls float because they have big plastic heads, but unless you can swim to save them don't float them down waterfalls.

I've gone to the dark side...

I got a e-reader.

A kindle paperwhite.

I bought it because I don't want to be lugging books around the world - on my last trip I ended up reading some really heavy books which didn't leave me as the nicest person but they were the only decent ones in English at the place we were staying.

But I'm afraid that it's going to take over my beloved paperbacks and all become electronic...

There should be a "book smell" spray that comes with the kindle.

Now I need to buy a cover - am thinking of getting a nice leather one that looks like a book.

Christmas is around the corner...

Sure, to some people I might be prematurely excited...

But to me it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

With only 33 days left before I fly off home to spend the most wonderful time of the year with my most wonderful family and attempt to do all my Christmas shopping in the space four days, I thought I would give you...

my top ten ideas for Christmas presents for those people who you just have no idea what to get.
  1. Give them a chance to give to others - buy them a Goat or some other charity gift, like a toilet or some chickens.
  2. Buy them a board game - the new Perth Edition of Monopoly came out, who wouldn't love that?!

  3. What about some soap? Seriously, who actually goes and buys themselves expensive soap? But get it as a gift and it's lovely
  4. Ditto with a beautiful smelling candle
  5. If you know they like tea, then you can't go wrong with a nice tea from T2 - YUM
  6. Clocks never go astray - they are handy and make for good decorations

  7. My Mum loves to give people experiences - so why not do the same with a picnic basket, or a voucher for pampering etc.

  8. For comical value, rubber ducks are great!
  9. Once I got given a cactus - I think it's still alive, which is amazing. If you don't know this person, or you don't like them, give them a cactus

Finally, my creme de creme of random gifts to give people you don't know what to get...
  10. A cookbook - and not just some random crappy one, go adventurous.
Hint: I really want the last one, if you were wondering.
